LISTEN ON KTOO AS JUNEAU SYMPHONY AND CHORUS PERFORM MOZART’S REQUIEM

KTOO-FM will also be broadcasting live the Juneau Symphony's performance on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm. More information about the broadcast can be found by visiting KTOO’s website at www.ktoo.org. The Juneau Symphony performs Saturday, April 9th, 8:00 pm and Sunday, April 10th, 3:00 pm at the JDHS auditorium. The program includes Brahms’ Variations on a Theme by Haydn and Mozart’s Requiem featuring the Juneau Symphony Chorus.

The Juneau Symphony is thrilled to present the Juneau Symphony Chorus in its second appearance with the Symphony. Joining the orchestra for this performance are over 115 singers and local soloists Joyce Parry Moore, Catherine Pashigian, Dan Wayne, and John d’Armand.

Mozart’s Requiem was commissioned by Viennese Count Franz von Walsegg as a memorial to his wife Anna following her death in 1791. Written literally as Mozart lay on his deathbed and left unfinished at the time of his death later that year, the Requiem also became a memorial to the great composer himself. The Juneau Symphony will perform Mozart’s masterpiece on April 9 and 10, and at the request of symphony subscribers, will dedicate the concert in remembrance of past family members and friends of Juneau residents.
